The last few years have shown the great potential of artificial intelligence technologies in a wide range of application areas.
In future, our customers at OneBase®WORLD should also benefit from this technological progress.
The use of machine learning and heuristic algorithms will further improve the performance of our solutions for complex optimization problems in the future.
OneBase® Prescriptive Analytics Tool
In order to achieve this, we have teamed up with an expert in this field – RISC Software GmbH – and are implementing a comprehensive extension of OneBase® with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods.
This research project is called NextBase.
In the first year of the project, the focus will mainly be on use in our intralogistics solutions; in the following year, use cases from process and system control will also be implemented.
OneBase® can be used for optimization tasks in all of our automation projects.
We will pay particular attention to the dynamic nature of many practical optimization problems.
Real-world conditions are constantly changing, which of course requires dynamic online adaptation of the optimization algorithms, which can be fully automated by using machine learning and heuristic algorithms.
We also see great potential in machine learning techniques when it comes to forecasting future events, such as new orders, disruptions or unplanned stock inflows or outflows.

This is where our OneBase®CoREprovides the ideal environment for creating a central knowledge base.
All information, from sensor readings and machine data to the specifications from the ERP systems, is integrated into our projects via OneBase® in a central database.
This data can be made available to the AI algorithms in real time.
Comprehensive analyses are also made possible.
The use of OneBase®CoREas a knowledge base will make it possible to easily expand existing projects with methods from ML and AI.

A major focus will be on improvements in the area of security.
In order to increase the performance of data analyses from the knowledge base, we will also implement support for time series databases, which are specially designed for handling sensor data and measured values.
